was established in East London in 1899.
The business in those early years
consisted of the manufacture and
re-upholstery of furniture. Being in the
furniture trade, local removals were
undertaken with a horse drawn cart and
the customer had to do his own loading
and off-loading of furniture.
During the
1932 - 1937 depression, Mr. Steer bought
his first truck. With the outbreak of war
in 1939, the demand for furniture storage
grew and so did the company.
